How to De-Skunk a dog

I was out playing in a yard today with some client’s dogs and I saw a skunk in the woods. Luckily, I and the dogs were far enough away that it didn’t see us and the
dogs had not noticed it at all. I was able to get the 3 dogs back inside without an incident, but it reminded me that I needed to find these instructions again.
To De-Skunk a dog:

Do not bring the dog inside – if you need to transport the dog, crate or kennel it. Skunk smell is really hard to get out of any materials, carpet, furniture or
upholstery.

Check the dog’s eyes, if they are red or irritated, flush with cold water immediately.

Next prepare the mixture in a plastic pail or container:

1 quart of 3-percent hydrogen peroxide (available at your local pharmacy)
1/4 cup baking soda
1 teaspoon liquid dishwashing soap

Wearing rubber clothes, apply the mixture to the dog – being careful not to get any solution in the dogs eyes or yours. CAUTION – Never save this mixture. It may
explode if left together.

Rinse thoroughly and shampoo with regular dog shampoo. The smell should be gone.
